Illustrative example: the Monday presentation
Ava has a client presentation on Monday. She breaks it into three parts on paper: start (outline five slides), plan (who reviews it, by Thursday), finish (one rehearsal Sunday).
For adults who start strong and stall
Executive function is a plain name for the skills that help you plan, organize, start, keep track of and finish work. Everyone uses them, and everyone has days when they are harder. It is not a diagnosis. If planning and follow-through are consistently difficult, practical structure can help, and a professional can help work out whether something more is going on.
